Hippie Sounds

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends…

by Jennifer on July 5th, 2007

There.

Now I’ve done my part to make sure that this is the most used song lyric phrase ever in blog post title history. Think I’m kidding. Plug that sucker into Google and you’ll see. Emerson, Lake & Palmer are making bank on this one.

Sadly, I’m lying. This show does end every so often. I do sometimes sleep. I like to throw in the occasional meal as well.

I did think that July 4th would be a great day to kick Hippie Sounds off. Now when someone asks, “Hey, how long has that old hippie blog been going on?” my wandering (over-worked) brain will remember.

I’m going to take these first few posts to lay out a few easy going ground rules, answer some basics about Hippie Sounds, and let you get to know my style and what kind of plans I’ve got brewing.

Questions, comments, or adoring words of admiration (or not) are always welcome here. I’m a blog junkie, or in other words, even when the show does occasionally end, I’m always around. Express yourself in the comments and barring unseen catastrophe or illness I’ll get back to you.

Next up; is this a hippie music blog, a 60s music blog, a 70s music blog, or what? And what the %$#@’s the difference? Thrilling questions will be answered like, “Hey, you can’t be a hippie you’re too damn young — what are you trying to pull?” and “How come Stills gets two spots in the favorites category? Are you working for him or something?”

Stay tuned.

I absolutely adore the “overflow” between our blogs - especially considering the most genre-elusive artist ever, Nina Simone! Thanks for stopping by my new little spot, Jennifer!

While you’ll be chatting about long hair, peace signs, and flower power - I’ll be chatting about burmashave, v-neck sweaters on men, and swing dancing. Hard to believe yours started as mine was ending, huh? We’ve got a good 10 year overlap here in the 60’s so it’ll be fun to see how we both view that decade. :)

Yes, it will be really interesting to see how the different bloggers cover the era… Most of the blogs overlap time wise but everyone has their own style and thoughts… should make for some very cool reading.

    Thanks for stopping by!
