Vinyl Art!
I got an email a while back from this cool guy who told me that he creates vinyl art. Of course I was intrigued and checked it out and he wasn’t wrong; vinyl art he does surely create. Amazing art. I meant to post it here sooner and in fact already blogged about it at Tree Hugging Family; but then I had to move houses and the servers were down late at night. Good news, servers are fixed, I’m all moved, and now here’s the 411 on this great artist.
Daniel Edlen website Vinyl Art, showcases Daniel’s portraits of musicians. The catch; he paints them on recycled, worn vinyl. Basically he took two of my favorite topics recycling and vinyl and smashed them together to create art! Wow is right folks. If you think of all the vinyl people toss well, that’s a fairly huge heap of landfill space. For music lovers the bonus is two-fold because not only are you saving the planet but you get to display your fave musicians on their own music albums.
I posted two of my favorite pieces Daniel did at Tree Hugging (Mr. Marley and John Lennon) but he has many more that I liked as well. Such as…

He also paints some newer artists like REM (well, ok 1/3 of REM)

Visit Vinyl Art to see many more artists (jazz fans will find some greats) and learn more.

That has to be the coolest lookin’ thing ever. I have so many records, too. How cool it would be to be able to display them like this instead of leaving them inside of my desk….
Great post :)

Well, I think they have to be records you don’t play; or that won’t. I’m sure not going to start defacing albums for the heck of it. But if they are too scuffed anyhow this is a great idea. I really love the John Lennon one. Glad to hear you have albums because vinyl rules.
