This Month In Music: September 2007
Music of interest that is…
September is such a busy month that I hardly know where to start. Of course we just wrapped up Farm Aid but that doesn’t mean that there’s not Farm Aid stuff still a happening.
The best news (obviously) is that my favorite girl Joni has her new album Shine coming out on the 25th! HUGE news and I’m so excited. Also, I can’t remember if I mentioned this before but you can read the lyrics for Shine right here!
To double the fun on the 25th Herbie Hancock’s River - The Joni Letters; a tribute to Joni is going to be released as well. I’d make sure you get the version with the two bonus tracks — which I believe is an Amazon exclusive.
On September 18, CMV/Columbia/Legacy is releasing a great double disc DVD and music CD of The Best of the Johnny Cash TV Show. The disc contain 64 amazing performances — many by notable favorite artists of mine (and likely yours) such as:
- Bob Dylan: I Threw It All Away
- Stevie Wonder: Heaven Help Us All
- Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bad Moon Rising
- James Taylor: Sweet Baby James
- Neil Young: The Needle and the Damage Done
- Derek and the Dominoes: It’s Too Late
- Ray Charles: Ring of Fire
And of course much, much more.
In the I’m so glad he’s touring news:
Bob Dylan is kicking off his fall tour on the 16th with a mighty big bang due to well, one he’s kicking off a fall tour and two, Elvis Costello is going to be Dylan’s solo guest on tour. The tour launches off from the Austin City Limits Music Festival (wow).
A few other cool mentions who are touring or appearing this September:
Ben Harper - U.S. & Canada
Steely Dan - in Australia
Richie Havens - U.S.
Previously mentioned stuff to remember:
- The Jim Morrison Scrapbook release on or around the 27th.
Alright folks that’s the news I’m interested in what’s got you excited in September? BESIDES the Led Zeppelin issue.
Well, if you insist on talking about LZ; Dave’s got the whole “it’s not just a rumor scoop” over at Brit Music Scene. I won’t be blogging this right now because Dave did a good job and face it; overkill anyone. Still, if you’d like a shot at seeing Led Zeppelin read:

I’m out. Have a stellar evening.

Stop following me around! ;) I’ve been singing Joni Mitchell all day and this is the third reference I’ve seen towards the woman today. I declare it Joni day!
I really don’t know clouds.

Wait… wasn’t it you who said she did not like female artists? Or was that Julie; I swear it was you. On that note everyone has to like Joni cause I say so :)
I think I own all her albums not once but twice over (vinyl safety net).
