The Best Green Musicians

There are musicians who donate money to helpful environmental causes and then there are musicians who go beyond the basics and actually walk the talk.
This summer Spinner put together an amazing list of the ten most eco-friendly musicians but I actually saw it first at fellow blogger Tracy’s blog Eco Street; so props to her. Visit Eco Street for a huge helping of green living.
Tracy is a great blogger and is also participating in Blog Action Day — yet another reason to visit her today.
Now, the Spinner list:
- Dave Matthews Band — bikes and more; they’ll be catching up with Young soon.
- Orbital — it’s all about the sunshine.
- Neil Young! — we knew this he’s the original eco-musician; soybean oil powered buses and all.
- Peter and the Wolf — touring by boat!
- Bonnie Raitt — energy to spare.
- Sarah Harmer — helping the rural natural environment.
- Cloud Cult — with a name like that you sure hope that they’re green; and they are.
- Pearl Jam — none carbon abusers.
- Jack Johnson — green, green, and more green; this guy is good.
- Ditty Bops — tours by bike (sort of) very cool.
You have to read all the stats on the list; spinner does master lists and this one is a gem. Read it all right here.
Don’t forget to read my other b5 friends participating in Blog Action Day; we’ve even had some new entries this morning! That’s double good stuff.

Thanks for promoting this. One thing I’d like to add…
I’m working with a coalition to make sure Congress sends the president a strong energy bill with meaningful changes for our environment and planet. This legislation would be a monumental step toward stopping global warming. Please go to http://www.energybill2007.us and sign the petition.
After years of inaction, Congress finally has a chance to pass meaningful energy legislation. The bill they are about to pass includes the best fuel economy standards ever (35 mpg by 2020) and a renewable electricity standard (15% by 2020) that guarantees the growth of renewable, clean energy. But there is a chance these two key advances won’t make it through to the final bill.
This is our chance for real progress, don’t let Congress back down! Thanks!

I’d also add Hot Buttered Rum to the list. These boys travel the US in a bio-diesel bus spreading the enviro word and great music.
