The Allman Brothers Band Loves You
You know how from time to time you like to jaunt by the sites of your favorite musicians and bands. You know how it sucks to find dead links, outdated tour guides, and “new” album releases from 2001.
It makes you wonder, why even have a website. Or maybe it makes you wonder why the band hired a 13 year old fan to keep up the site. Whatever the reason, I’d rather not see a website at all if it can’t at least be fresh. I know not all bands have new news — still there’s always something to say. Am I wrong?
The Allman Brothers Band have a sweet example of how every good musician should run their site. These guys LOVE their fans.
At Hittin’ The Web, the tour lists are current, the news is updated, and they really go all out to show the fans respect. Their site is jammed full of forums, fan Q&A, fan and media art and photos, live radio, journals, and even tape trading and “flowers for your hair.”
On top of that they go ahead and do things like the September green expansion benefit concert for Piedmont Park in Atlanta with Dave Matthews Band — (yes it’s sold out, if you’re just hearing now don’t bother). There’s a reason a band keep on playing successfully for almost 40 years. Partly luck, but also by making it known that the fans who support them matter.
If you want to support them back they’re playing all summer — tour dates available (of course) at Hittin’ The Web.
