Random Hippie Stuff & Pinball!
I write a lot of blogs. None of them are too close main-topic-wise. However, the one thing they all have in common is me. The things I like I like everywhere. I tend to carry over the music topic to other blogs, mix architecture in with my office blog and spread green ideas everywhere. That said, I recently wrote two hippie-minded posts at two different blogs that may appeal if you like this blog.
Sometimes if I like something enough I’ll simply write different posts on it at various blogs. Today I’m lazy and am giving you links.
First I’ve got wood paneling like you’ve never seen at Offbeat Homes. Seriously it’s either a 70’s shag carpet dream or your worst nightmare — either way it’s good stuff.
Second, I’ve got the best hippie wedding dresses ever at Tree Hugging Family.
To give you something that’s not at any other blogs I was thinking pinball.
Pinball played a large role in 70s music thanks to the massive popularity of Tommy by The Who. I’ve been obsessively listening to Tommy for a few days now. I hadn’t in a while and seriously forgot how great that album was. I suggest you dust off the old LP and slide it on your record player because it’s as good as ever and makes some of this new music sound a tad sludge-like.
In a 70s childhood full of hippie vinyl I can’t say which I liked first (or better) but I remember both Tommy and this clip below as pivotal pinball moments growing up.
Which moment do you remember better?

Oh wow did that bring back memories! I can’t even remember the last time I saw that. Combined with the news that ‘Jodie’ from “Today’s Special” (did you ever watch that) is running for some office, today has been a blast from the past!

Was Today’s Special about a robot? It sounds so familiar. But it’s like on the tip of my head.

There was a department store mannequin that came to life when the store closed and a floor manager (I think)! Sounds creepy but it was entertaining. There was also a little puppet mouse named Muffy.

Ah ha. As soon as I saw this I could hear that song in my head.. “today’s special, come and join in the fun” or something like that. I did not like that show. I think I was a smidgen too old. But thanks I think I was thinking of that horrid show Small Wonder (something like that). With the robot girl in the patent leather shoes. I hated that show.

Now *that* show was scary! Today’s Special was my younger sister’s favorite show and I hated it on principle (because she liked it, ha!) but it grew on me.
