Own A Piece of Hippie Music History
“I’m going on down to Yasgur’s farm. I’m going to join in a rock n’ roll band.”
For only 8 million dollars you can buy Max Yasgur’s homestead, in Bethel, NY, site of the famous Woodstock Music and Arts Festival.
What you get:
- Yasgur’s residence; built in 1876
- A 5,000 sq ft. farmhouse
- A 7,000 sq. ft. calving barn
- Over 103 acres of land
- A piece of important hippie music history
The festival held in 1969 at Yasgur’s homestead is probably the most mentioned farm in history ever. Joni Mitchell, of course, helped to make that possible with her song Woodstock, a song covered by many artists, the most well known being herself and the version heard on Crosby Stills, Nash & Young’s Deja vu album.
The $70 million Bethel Woods Center for the Arts sits on Woodstock’s original site. The Arts Center is located less than 2 miles from Yasgur’s farm and musicians such as Bob Dylan, Dave Brubeck, and The New York Philharmonic have played there.
You can see an amazing slide show at Joshpe Real Estate. But I’d hurry; even at that steep price, I’m wondering if someone won’t snatch it up quick and take it off the market. If it’s you, I’d like to suggest inviting me over for a nice visit.
