One-Night-Stand Benefit to Celebrate Bob Dylan

by Jennifer on October 20th, 2007

This celebration of music, taking place November 7th at the Beacon Theater is in honor of both Bob Dylan and Todd Haynes’ creation/movie event I’m Not There.

The film opens on the 21st of November but the music is starting early on the 7th when 16 various artists will come together in true style of the movie to interpret Dylan their own way.

The concert is being produced by Michael Dorf, Jim Dunbar, and Randall Poster. Musical guests featured will be “Jim James & Calexico, Cat Power, Yo La Tengo w/Buckwheat Zydeco, Terry Adams Rock & Roll Quartet, My Morning Jacket, Mason Jennings, Joe Henry, John Doe, Michelle Shocked & Jimmy LeFave, The Roots, Mark Lanegan, Ian Ball & Olly Peacock (of Gomez), Lee Ranaldo & the Million Dollar Bashers, J Mascis, Al Kooper & Funky Faculty, Terry Adams Rock & Roll Quartet, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, special guests and more to be announced!”

The say to,  “Expect the unexpected.” I’d expect covers. It actually does not sound like my kind of show (all covers). But the idea of celebrating a great artist is always nice. In this case celebrating a legend will also be expensive with Platinum V.I.P tickets at a whopping $1000 a pop; Gold V.I.P. tickets going for $575; and your basic seats $150. Other nosebleed seats are going from $48-$100

In this case it will be money perfectly well spent because you get Dylan tunes and 100% of the net proceeds will benefit the non-profit organizations 826 National and 826 Valencia which helps students 6-18 with expository and creative writing skills. Nice.
