One-hit wonders - that left you dazed and bruised
Ahhh, it’s list day here on the Music Channel at b5media! This is your chance to explore some great new music blogs that may have missed your notice before and have some fun with the bloggers.
Top 10 one-hit wonders that you can’t get out of your $U#$@ head (it’s poetry, really)
- I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (in Perfect Harmony) by the Hillside Singers. Truly one of life’s little moments where you’d like to beat your head against a rock until you pass out.
- Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band. Anyone else see nothing but Ron Burgundy singing this? I love lamp.
- Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Grows) by Edison Lighthouse. I caught this ditty on American Idol the other day. WHY GOD WHY?
- In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. Hard to believe this song was named during a drunken … wait, no it’s not that hard to believe.
- You Keep Me Hangin’ On by Vanilla Fudge. Another great drunken middle-of-the-night phone call song. Good times. Goooood times.
- Green Tambourine by the Lemon Pipers. Weed much?
- In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus) by Zager & Evans. Damn, this song is uplifting. I wonder if they co-wrote with the Hillside Singers?
- 96 Tears by ? And The Mysterians. Which one was ? again?
- Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum. Fire the backup singers, dude. Seriously.
- Hot Smoke and Sassafras by Bubble Puppy. WTF is a Bubble Puppy?

Boy, don’t I know it, Bruce! But it’s awesome fodder for Joplin vs. American Idol. ;)
Thanks Lauren, though now I’ve got “Skyrockets in flight BOOM BOOM” in my head. GAH.
