Neil Young’s Harvest Earns Top Canadian Honors
Harvest has hit the winning spot on a recently released list of the top 100 Canadian albums.
Neil Young beat out greats like Joni Mitchell (bah), the Band, Gordon Lightfoot and the Tragically Hip. Although, I agree Harvest is an excellent album and does deserve top honors. The list is complied in journalist Bob Mersereau’s new book, The Top 100 Canadian Albums. Around 600 music fans and critics, artists, retailers and other members of the industry helped to vote the top 100 in (or out).
The big vote earners include Young making eight appearances; and Joni Mitchell, the Guess Who and Lightfoot earning five spots each.

Personally, I don’t see how Reckless or Jagged Little Pill made the top 20 — but the rest are some stellar choices. Although, I’m a tad shocked that not even one Gordon Lightfoot made the top 20. AND come to think of it I would have move Court and Spark up and added Ladies of the Canyon to the top 20 (but then the fact that I’m Joni obsessed makes that no big surprise).
