Are You Old Yet?
Look what I found at The Catbirdseat; a mixed mecca for music lovers sort of blog.
Is this you?

Maybe not until after kids happen. I used to be able to just take off and see shows whenever. Now, if there’s a biggie festival it’s easy; due to the fact you can take your kids. Same with outdoor shows. But since I had Cedar I’ve been to WAY fewer shows in general.
That’s not all Cedar though. He likes the shows he’s been to. I also work a lot. I think the comic is funny; but old is, like they say, more a state of mind. Certain days it happens and some not so much.
How old are you? Would you still drive to a different town to see a show?
We’re driving states next year to attend a green living festival; so maybe priorities change but the drive remains.
I can just see it. Today will be the day the teens descend here and I’ll feel real old.

Yep, I’m old. It’s true. I’m going to go cry now.

Don’t feel old. I look at these bands that are still touring after 30 - 40 years and they’re energetic. It’s all a state of mind.

I once drove about six or seven hours just to see a band perform that WAS coming to my city the very next day. In fact, I then followed them back to my hometown the next day and saw that concert too. That was only a couple of years ago. But now I do have a kid and that makes a huge difference. In fact, less than a year ago this same band actually came to the city I’m living in now. I didn’t go to the concert. It’s the first time I haven’t seen this band in concert during their last four tours. Sadness. And, I guess, oldness.

Don’t cry Julie! Listen to Jyle — that assessment is good :)
Ben I’ve done that; drove and drove to see a band and then followed them to a different town the following day. Not now though. I want Cedar to like shows too but so many aren’t kid friendly. And no Barney on ice or whatever; that’s not real music. Yikes. It’s not all sad though. You do have that adorable boy — that’s way better than any old show.

I don’t think that I’m old yet, just getting older, which means more responsibilities. However, if I have the cash and it’s a band I really love, I’ll make the trip. Heck, I’m thinking about flying out to San Fran for the Bridge School Benefit in October.

Wow simultaneous posting. We are good. Anyhow, I think it’s part of our responsibility to stay culturally happy so I’m glad you’re still seeing the shows! Go to San Fran; I could use a little SF right now myself.

Wow, that was weird.
Yeah, I love going to concerts, it’s pretty much where my money goes. I’ve never been to SF, I’d love to go there. It depends on the lin up, and if the rumours are true, then it should be well worth the trip.
